Practical QEEG: Step One to Advanced Protocol Decisions

This two-day practical workshop is designed to guide participants through the full QEEG analysis process—from foundational steps to confident neurofeedback protocol selection. It is ideal for both newcomers to QEEG and experienced practitioners seeking to refine their interpretive and clinical decision-making skills.

Day 1 focuses on essential QEEG foundations:

  • Electrode placement and system setup
  • Recording standards, impedance checks, and artifact minimization
  • Understanding coherence, phase, and asymmetry
  • Differentiating raw EEG from QEEG-derived maps and graphs
  • Artifact detection using ICA and PCA algorithms; visual inspection of raw EEG
  • Introduction to spectral analysis and z-score interpretation
  • Understanding the difference between graphs and maps—and when to use each effectively

Day 2 builds on these foundations and is suitable for both beginner and advanced practitioners.

The focus includes:

  • Advanced artifact recognition and data cleaning techniques
  • Recognizing and avoiding common pitfalls in automated report interpretation
  • Identifying clinically significant QEEG markers, including epileptiform discharges
  • Case-based discussions linking QEEG patterns to symptom presentations
  • Making informed neurofeedback protocol decisions based on QEEG findings

Throughout both days, participants will engage in hands-on analysis using real clinical data. They will practice reviewing raw EEG, interpreting spectral diagrams and brain maps, and applying clinical reasoning to build reliable and individualized neurofeedback protocols. Participants are encouraged to bring their case data for discussion and analysis during the workshop
